“Waiting for Shishin” 1993

Waiting For Shishin
I had bad painters block. I walked to the fish monger @ Eastern Market – brought back a mackerel – glued up a cardboard sanctuary (based on Sassetta) and hung the fish inside. (Clue) Shishin means the muse.

Oil and gilding on canvas. 60″ x 72″. Collection of Eric Colbert.
