“Zero” 1972

0043 Zero 1972, Action

Merton Boyd Gallery, Columbus, OH. Wood and plywood replica of vintage Japanese ‘Zero’ airplane painted pink and yellow. Construction team included Bill Roseberry, Denny McCoy, Rick Sadlier and Roy Palmer.

The flag  was a pink and yellow Japanese flag. I pretended I couldn’t speak English for a TV interview. I was wearing aviation goggles and leather cap.

  1. We essentially took over the woodshop at the art school every day for two weeks to fabricate the parts. Kudos to Merton Boyd for being so insightful to showcase this piece in backwater Columbus, Ohio.
