“Orchardhouse Black and White” 2004

Oil on multiple wood panels, 64” x 120”. Artist’s collection.
As you may know by now whenever I have the opportunity to paint a structure I won’t pass it by. After moving out of DC to Berryville VA I began painting my ecological series “The Berryville Treepikes”.   Included were a few farm buildings that dwelt within the orchards and the piles of dead trees.  This cider house structure caught our attention while Lindsey snd I were walking near Berryville.   A large D9 bulldozer was plowing down an orchard to make room for housing lots for DC commuters. Lindsey suggested that I run home and get my camera. I returned and shot this picture just minutes before the over 100 year old barn was demolished.
