Oil on wood box, 18” x 24”. Unknown location.
These painted boxes (I did between 5 & 10) were done on paintboxes discarded by my students at The Catholic University of America. The sizes varied a bit but were generally about 18 inches tall. Some are cut like a woodblock print and then painted. The palette on the right side was usually used as the palette to paint the entire box and the palette itself. A few of the boxes have palettes that can be removed and leaned against the box itself. The backs generally look pretty much like the surface of the front sans image. However, a few boxes have images on the back.
There also exist a few small boxes the size of cigar boxes.
